Shelagh Aitken started Alexander lessons as a music student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, where she studied baroque music. Her instrument was (and is again) baroque flute.

Many years later, after a long and painful recovery from (successful) shoulder surgery, Shelagh decided to join the three year Alexander Technique training program at the Constructive Teaching Centre in London.

She teaches privately in St. John’s Wood, North London and at the in the City near Moorgate. She is also a teaching assistant at two Alexander Technique training schools.

She is on the NHS Directory of Complementary and Alternative Practitioners and is a member of STAT, the Society of Teachers of the  Alexander Technique.

I've just sent back my [workshop] feedback form, and in answer to "Was there a light-bulb moment?" I cited the discovery of the semi-supine relaxation technique!
